Transmariska has an important place among the Roman towns along the Danube

River on the Bulgarian territory. Transmariska originated as a military camp around the middle of 1
st century. In the late antiquity it was a center of a military garrison and the Danube fleet. The total area of the city is about 65 thousand m
2 and the circumference of the walls about 1 km. The town was destroyed at the end of 6 th century in the invasions of the Avars. A section of the northern wall was studied - two square towers and fortified wall between them, and the southern wall was built between the years 294-298/9, under the supervision of the Emperor Diocletian. The nearest objects by land are 15 km to the west to Kinton (next to Nova Cherna village) and 33 km to Apiaria (next Ryahovo Village) and 30 km to the east to Kandidiana (next to Village of Malak Preslavec, Municipality of Glavinitsa).
