It was built in the early decades of the 16th century as one of the architectural models of Mimar Sinan. It was named after the lead sheets, which covered her dome. The mosque was built in the center of that time town of Silistra, with a fountain in front of it and a focus on Mecca.
Murals date from 1730 – 1800 and were very professionally executed. The decoration is focused mostly on the floor covered with carpets and richly crafted and painted walls and ceiling. The decoration of the interior walls is of colored stones in the masonry above the windows and doors. The topics chosen for the decoration of the walls are flowers /roses, carnations, tulips and more/.
