„Intercession of the Theotokos“ Female Monastery

The Monastery in Aydemir Village was built in 1996, as the walls of the church were painted in October 2001. Except from the well known images of saints in the church of the monastery can be seen the portraits of 12 Durostorum saints (from Durostorum - modern Silistra) from total of 23 local canonized saints.This makes the Monastery „Intercession of the Theotokos“an unique one in Bulgaria. Another feature of the monastery is the collection of jars from different parts of the world, representing different sized glass bottles with beautifully crafted crucifixes in them. It is believed that the workmanship of many details in the beakers is achieved by using threads.
