The remains of late Roman fortress Nigrinianis are located near the village of Dolno Ryahovo in the area “Bairaktar Chair”, 3,7 km north of the village and 0.5 km southeast of the pier, in the region of the “Gradishteto” and the “Maraya”. According to a map of Kastoria, the site was a station of a Roman road along the Danube, coming from Novae (Svishtov) and passing through: Sexaginta Prista (Ruse) - Transmariska (Tutrakan) - Nigrinianis - Kandidiana - Tegulitsium (Vetren) and Durostorum (Silistra). The fortress Nigrinianis has a fairly short life. It was built at the end of the III and the beginning of the IV century and was destroyed at the end of IV century.
Ruins of the late antique town and fortress Kandidiana are located in the village of Malak Preslavec about 4.2 km north of the lake with lilies and 0.5 km east of the pier in "Sara Borun”. It was built in the end of the III and the beginning of the IV century and existed until the end of VI and the beginning of VII century.
Since the last quarter of the III to the first half of the IV century has functioned "figlina" as part of the IX-th Claudius Legion. Nowadays, still preserved traces of the south wall, built of stones and cemented with clay.
