The museum was opened in 1951 in a building that is an architectural monument from the end of XIX century.
There are the following exhibitions:

Archaeology - Ceramics, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic f
igures, hearths, tools, parts of buildings of the „Sultana-Malu Rosu” Neolithic settlement, anthropomorphic antique Roman lamps, collection of Roman, Byzantine pottery and jewellery from Pacuiul lui Soare, ancient and medieval coins, exhibits, illustrating local history.

Ethnography - the most important elements of life of local people from XVIII - XX century - fabrics, craft tools, household items, ceramics, furniture, jewellery, religious objects, musical instruments, costumes and more are exhibited there.

Art Collection - paintings, sculptures, drawings, decorative arts and more.
